Handmade in the Spanish Tradition
Classical and flamenco guitars built by hand, one at a time, with nearly 30 years of dedication to tone, touch, and craftsmanship.
Inquire About a GuitarIn my late teens, I was captivated by the rich, resonant tone of the guitars coming out of Spain - instruments that no factory could replicate. I've spent close to thirty years learning why, and working out how to achieve that same sound in my own work.
Every guitar I build is a one-of-a-kind instrument, made using the traditional techniques and materials that have defined the Spanish classical and flamenco guitar for centuries. I use hide glue for assembly and hand-applied French polish with shellac for the finish - not because it's fashionable, but because, for this kind of instrument, nothing works better.
I also teach guitar making. If you're interested in learning the craft, visit Lessons in Lutherie.
Each guitar is built to order or available as a current completed instrument. Classical, flamenco, and specialty models.
Balanced treble and bass, long sustain, and the deep warmth that comes from carefully voiced tonewoods and a lightweight build. Suited to a wide range of musical styles - not just classical repertoire.
Immediate response, percussive attack, and a bright cutting tone. Built lighter than a classical, with traditional cypress or rosewood back and sides, and a Euro-spruce or cedar soundboard.
Not sure which model fits you? Get in touch. I'm happy to discuss tonewoods, scale length, setup, and everything else that goes into building an instrument around your playing style.
Good classical and flamenco guitars can't be factory-made. The qualities that matter most - tone, balance, response - come from careful wood selection, skilled voicing of the soundboard, and lightweight construction that a factory process simply won't allow. That's what makes a hand-built guitar worth seeking out.
